The weather has just decided to be really beautiful this week. Of course we haven't had time to do anything like go to the beach, but we have really enjoyed being in our yard, going to the park, and gardening. In fact last night I made vegetable lasagna that was amazing and from my own spinach. Then we made a salad with our lettuce and spinach. Coming from someone whose never had a garden before--this was just awesome--to eat something we have grown ourselves.
My practice is growing. That's good. I didn't get the Rape Crisis Centre job, which is just as well. I was really leaving that in God's hands. It is very liberal politically and ideologically--opposite from me. But I would have done a good job for them had they hired me. Anyway, still waiting to hear about a part time job with the District Health Board as a Drug and Alcohol Counsellor. Not sure I want it either, but it's always good to explore one's options. :-)
Cupcake is having a growth spurt! Her feet are huge all of a sudden. She's running into everything and falling over. Let's not forget her attitude which is often more like a teenager in a 4 year old's body. But she is still super sweet and so much fun! Right now she is playing "Bob the Builder Can Do Zoo" on the computer. She can do it all by herself. Bubba loves to just sit and watch her.
Bubba had is ENT appointment this morning with the private specialist. He was so thorough. He also works in the public system so he is going to investigate their "plan" for Ian and where he is in the process. He suggested the next step would be a hearing test and investigation of his ears while under general anesthesia. Basically, he said if there is no hearing in the left ear nothing will be done. If he has minimal loss they will do hearing aids. If he is given hearing aids before he is 5 he will get them for free for life. If not, they are $5,000-7,000 each. So, if the hearing loss is more advanced they would consider a cochlear implant. He was clear in his understanding that a hearing loss would effect his speech and understood our reasoning for getting it done sooner rather than later.
Then this afternoon Ian met with the Occupational Therapist. She was great too! We talked a lot. She is going to meet with him weekly for awhile and work on specific tasks. She also sent us home with the ASEBA test, one for us and one for his pre-school teacher. They are going to evaluate him (officially) for ADHD and autism. Well, what they do is test and discuss if they will evaluate him.
The good news is he has a really good couple of weeks. He's been so friendly and so sweet. He's even had good days at church. We feel hopeful that he will overcome at least part of his speech deficit. The speech therapist is going to his pre-school tomorrow to observe him. Yay!
Working hard, paying bills, taking care of kids, everyone is pretty healthy at the moment and the weather is gorgeous! What more could I ask for?--Oh yea, another baby or three. Still at the top of our prayer list. Just hanging out here in the adoption (and fostering) pool. Praying for a birth mother to pluck us out.

You...are...an...amazing woman. Here you are doing sooo much and you are still willing to open your arms to more babies. That's amazing. Those little ones will be so blessed to get a home like yours.
