So, we are thinking of buying a house...

Yes, we did just move in September. We thought we were moving into a rental house where we could live for many years, but that may not be the case. Our house is owned by a church and the pastor is leaving, which means they may be getting a new pastor as early as July or August, who may need to live in this house. It's been such sad news. We love this house and really thought we would rent it until we could buy it or something just as nice. That may not be the case.

So, the house hunting started in earnest again last week in the midst of our stomach flu. We have found this house (pictured) and it is just around the corner from where we live now. It is a lovely little house. Warm, sunny, and in a good area. The price is right. It just needs new flooring and painting.

Oh boy, who knew there was so much drama involved in buying a house. For it to work we would have to either get the house for $10,000 under what they are asking (to qualify with no down payment) or borrow $3,000 from one of our parents as a down payment; get out of our lease early; and get the renter out, get the work done, etc. That is a lot of ifs and gets. We need lots of prayer!

I can't help but be excited by the idea of having my own little house, with floor covering I pick out, paint I pick out, and a great back yard. Did I mention the yard? We could finally have a dog! This house has its own driveway (even though it is down a right of way), so there is loads of parking for small group. It is just about perfect!

Fingers crossed, say a prayer, and think good thoughts for us.

  1. You have a beautiful attitude about it. I was so sad for you reading this post, but it's best to be out looking now and getting those ducks in a row. :)

Worse comes to worse, can they do the escrow thing and you can paint/floor room by room after you move in? I know... what a mess. But if it gets you the house you want it might be worth it.

    Keep us posted!!
